Big Baby Annabelle!!

This morning we had our 36 week appointment (although we are only 35 weeks and 6 days).  We had an ultrasound scheduled for this day early on, due to my low lying placenta, but after last week needed to check the size of the baby as well.  So we went in first thing to meet Sherry, our sonographer, and then had our normal weekly appointment with Dr. Galvin.  Andy and I were so excited for this appointment because we knew we got to see her and get checked for the first time :)

In a nut shell we learned that little miss is in the 97th percentile in weight.  She is one big baby!  She was measuring in at 39 weeks and 5 days!!  Her weight on the screen came in at 8 lbs. and 1 oz.  She said I had a lot of fluid, but that was normal for a larger baby, as they produce more urine. Typically the weight is higher on the ultrasound screen, but Dr. Galvin still thinks she is at least 7 lbs now.  Normal size at this point is 5 to 5.5 lbs.  On a more important note, everything looked healthy, her kidneys, heart, blood vessels all looked great.  She was even breathing on her own, which isn't something all babies are doing at this point.  And she is so stinkin cute (here's her side profile)!

No plans for delivery yet.  Dr. Galvin said we will continue to watch her and see how much she grows.  She has not dropped and I'm not dilated, so things in that department aren't sneaking up on us.  We'll be going back weekly from now on, so will address a plan in a couple weeks if she continues to grow at this pace!!  4 weeks might turn into 3!
