Today we start the two week countdown. Annabelle's due date is exactly two weeks from today, but I'm not sure we are going to last the full two weeks!! This week her lungs are completely developed and she is plumping up. At this point she should be weighing in at around 6.5 lbs and 19 to 22 inches.
We had our weekly doctor's appointment today, which was much anticipated. Andy and I had discussed that we wanted to talk to her about a plan, as we had yet to discuss induction, next steps, etc. I told her I had been feeling good, but definitely felt like things were changing...and they were.
I'm dilated to a 2 and Annabelle has dropped. She said my cervix was thinning out and it showed. She still needs to drop a little more, but that could come at the time of delivery. I told her I was getting nervous that she was going to be really big and my back was starting to kill. I woke up today really not being able to walk. I'm officially waddling and it takes all my energy to lift my legs :) Funny sight I'm sure. My hands and feet have started to swell and I feel like I'm retaining a lot more fluid...hence the 4 lbs. weight gain this week.
We discussed her size, options, next steps and are going back in on Friday for an ultrasound. She said she wanted to check her size to see how big she was. If she is as big as she could be at this point, we will schedule a c-section for next week. Not really sure what I think about it all yet, but know we need to check her size to determine what the best route will be. If she is not huge and deliverable, then we will wait it out, but if her size is as large as we think, then I might not be able to deliver her "vaginally" and have to get a c-section. She provided many pros and cons to all options and said that 40% of births are through a c-section. So now the wait is on until Friday. I'm so glad we are able to go in before the holidays so we can determine our plan if we do in fact need one. With that being said her weight can be off a pound, so we need to consider all options. At this point all I want is for her to be healthy and me too :) Back to Sherry we go on Friday and until then...we'll keep looking forward to meeting our little munchkin!!
