Double Ear Infection...AGAIN

Sunday morning we did our normal weekly grocery shopping and as I was pulling Annabelle out of her car seat I noticed her ear was full of goo.  It was not the prettiest thing I had seen, especially not appealing as we were walking into buy groceries.  Needless to say we knew something was wrong as this had never happened, although she was not showing any signs of being sick.  We were going to take her to Urgent Care up the street, but figured we would wait it out so we could see Dr. Espe in the morning.  After googling her symptoms, it was apparent her eardrum had ruptured.  Ouchie.  So Monday morning we strolled into the doctor to find out she had a double ear infection and a ruptured eardrum.  Poor Baby :(

After a long discussion with Dr. Espe he advised we start thinking about tubes and consult with an ENT.  This was her 4th double ear infection in 5 months and with my family’s history he thought we should look into tubes.  He said with Annabelle being in daycare and going into the winter, the colds are not going to stop and the road ahead could be a long/tough one if her ears continue to act the way they have been.  The thought of Annabelle getting tubes scares us, but we do not want her to suffer anymore than she already has.  Tubes or no tubes…next week’s consultation will determine.
