Birthday Party

Saturday we celebrated Annabelle’s first birthday.   In all honestly this birthday is more for the parents and the fact that they made it through their first year of parenthood, with a little smash cake involved.  I had always dreamed of this nicely organized, adorable themed birthday party and seeing that it fell 4 days after Christmas, I had to let it go.  The time preparing for the holidays consumed us and the party planning kept getting placed on the back burner.  Needless to say thanks to Pinterest and Hobby Lobby, we were able to throw the party together.

We weren’t sure how Annabelle was going to react to her cake, as the child is so particular with textures.  Anything crunchy she LOVES, but soft foods she won’t even entertain the idea.  I knew once she tasted the icing she would love the sugar, but wasn’t sure if she would dive in or spit at the cake.  We all sang happy birthday and surprisingly she dove in.  She LOVED it.  She was like a little lizard licking the icing.  She was weary of it at first, but once it hit her lips, it was go time J

It was such a wonderful night with our family and friends.  I was so glad for those that were able to join us in her celebration and ringing in her first year of life!!!
