First Baby Shower Set!

I got my first baby shower invite in the mail today and it is the cutest thing ever!!  My sisters and two of my best friends are throwing us our first baby shower October 23rd.  I can't believe that time is already here. This shower is going to be my closest girlfriends and family and can't wait to share our first one with them.  Here's a glimpse at the invite and her adorable little monogram!!

This week we had a doctor's appointment and it was not a fun one.  I had to take my glucose test, get blood work done and get a flu shot. The glucose liquid was not as bad as I anticipated and just chugged it down.  It kind of tasted like a sweet shot, sans the vodka :)  I was a little worried about the test because I have loved sugar throughout this pregnancy.  I can put back a box of nerds in no time.  And top it off with a cookie...if available.  Needless to say I got called Tuesday and they said everything they tested for looked great and to keep doing what I was doing.  So I passed!!!

My doctor warned me that the next couple weeks are the most crucial.  She said that once you hit 24 weeks, your baby is now viable.  Meaning they can survive in the outside world.  Although they can survive, babies born between 24 - 28 weeks have lifelong complications if they do in fact survive.  She said our first milestone was to get to 28 weeks and I need to take it easy, relax and listen to my body.  She is very matter of fact, but I like her honesty and knowledge about each step of the way.  She said that the baby looked great, was measuring on track and her heartbeat was spot on.  She said she weighs about a pound and a half.  She has been moving non-stop and her movements are getting quite stronger. She said in a perfect world I would only gain 3/4 of a pound/week from here on out.  Not sure that will happen, but we shall see :) So looking forward to the next appointment and setting up our 3D sonogram!
