Thursday morning Annabelle woke up with this rash on her face. She had a mild one earlier in the week, but just thought it was dry patches. She had been coughing for a week, but thought it was just a cold and that it was running its course, hence the rash and cough. Andy and I were leaving for Chicago in the afternoon and I didn’t feel right about how she was acting. So we went to the doctor, thinking and hoping he was going to say it was just a cold, and low and behold she had bronchitis. I guess it had been going around school, but I had missed the health alert email, and she had picked it up.
So I pulled my worst mom ever moment yet. Annabelle had been out of school for probably 50% of the days in October because she was sick, they would send her home, you have to wait 24 hours, on and on. So we first went to school Thursday morning and as I was standing there talking to her teachers I said, you know we are leaving town, I’m going to run her to the doctor real quick so I can enjoy our trip, but I’m sure she’s okay. They told me that bronchilitis had been going around and most of the kids in her class had been out all week. Ms. Angel said that I could bring her back if she wasn’t sick, but if she was sick and did have bronchitis that I needed to keep her home. Well that wasn’t an option since our flight was at 3:00 and I had a client meeting that I could NOT miss. So Annabelle needed to go to school. So after the doctor we went and got her prescription filled and I took her back to school and told them she was fine. I still feel bad about being dishonest, but that girl needed to go to school!!!
