6 Month Dr. Appt.

Friday we had Annabelle’s rescheduled 6 month doctor’s appointment.  Thursday night she did not look herself, a little runny nose, eyes glassy and a little more clingy than normal.  We went in on Friday for the appointment to find out that she still had an ear infection L  So we were unable to get her 6 month shots, but still saw Dr. Espe and addressed the normal 6 month milestones, next steps, etc.  She weighs 18 lbs. 4 oz. and is 26 inches long.  She’s in the 95% for weight and 60% for height.  We can now start feeding her food 3 times a day along with her bottles.  He said to do fruits, veggies and oatmeal.  I asked when the process would be a little cleaner and not always such a mess and he laughed and said in 3 years.  We discussed her sleeping patterns, nap schedule and the infamous “do you let them cry it out”.  Andy and I have different opinions on it, so wanted to get his advice.  He told us she was at the age that she needed to learn to put herself back to sleep.  That we shouldn’t be going in and giving her the pacifier or picking her up.  Not sure we’ll be following that piece of advice J

Sunscreen is okay now and so is water.  In this heat if she is interested in drinking a little water from a sippy cup, he said to offer that.  We got a sippy cup for her, but think she enjoyed chewing on it more than drinking from it.  He said that she will get about 2-3 colds a month!!  Being in daycare and subjected to the numerous and varying germs, she will continuously be battling something.  He said that this will better prepare her for kindergarten and hopefully make her later years healthier.  We got a new antibiotic – Amoxicillin – so hope it does the trick this time.

We’ll go back in two weeks for a ear recheck and 6 month shots!
