Surprise!! We have a baby girl on the way. What an awesome day we had Friday and what a surprise it was...to me. Yes Andy was right! Friday morning we both woke up super early because we could not sleep. The anticipation was killing us and we were so excited for our appointment. We found ourselves sitting in Ihop at 6:30 talking about the news we were about to receive. We filled our morning with errands and got to the appointment 20 minutes early. Sherry, our sonogramer, came out and got us and was ready right on time. Because of our appointment two weeks ago, we were not technically supposed to have another sonogram, but she said she was claiming "checking fluids" as her reasoning to give us one that day. Thank you Sherry. The appointment began and oh how she had changed. She was so much bigger than last time. Andy was very fixated on the screen, asking questions and watching her every move. She told us she was going to do all the checking and measuring and then check genitals at the very end.
After our last appointment, when we were unable to get the gender news due to the rude sonogramer, Andy had studied up on the genitals and what to look for. He swore he had done enough investigating that he would have been able to tell during our last one what it was if he knew what to look for. So as she was going through the sonogram I feel Andy squeeze my foot and whisper "I saw three lines"...meaning little girl. I was so nervous/anxious, just watching the screen that I was like no way...how did he see that. A few minutes later she stopped and said, "Are you ready?" and I was like ya and she said, "You are having a baby girl!" And I lost it. Tears were streaming down my face. Andy was grinning from ear-to-ear and my body was shaking with excitement. That got her a little worked up and we got to see her face looking at us with her arms up by her face once again, just enjoying her comfy environment. It was the most incredible moment and one we will always remember!
That night we had invited our families over for the big reveal and asked that everyone wear blue or pink depending on what gender they thought. Everyone showed up in blue except my dad and Drew. We didn't want to make a big deal about it, but also didn't want to just tell them, so we got pink balloons and bandannas that we tied around Sandy and Sophie and had them come sprinting down with them. Everyone was in shock and it was so fun to share the news!
We are so blessed to have a healthy baby girl on the way and get to experience this journey. It's amazing what a connection you feel now that we can call her "baby girl"!
