Today Ms. Annabelle is 8 months old! I feel like I was just recapping her 7th month and we are already onto our 8th. This past month was an absolute blast. She is becoming more and more of a little girl and developing new interests, noises, reactions, emotions daily. She still is the happiest little girl ever and smiles from ear to ear. She is filled with energy and love.
We learned to crawl this month. Not forward, but backward. We go back a few feet and then push our self up. We haven't mastered the forward crawl, although I know it's a matter of time. We have 7 teeth with more on the way. Her hair has thickened up and is still brown, but seems to be a little lighter (might be the sun exposure). Her eyes are still baby blues and think they are staying, thank you daddy!
Today we ended up in the doctors office because she has been refusing to drink milk. I started weaning her this past month and she does not like formula. Initially we were mixing the formula with breast milk for the transition, but since we went to full formula last week during the days, she does not want it. I wasn't sure if it was because her ears, the taste, or what was going on, but she does not seem to like it. We are still nursing in the mornings and bedtime. Weaning her off has been a smooth transition. Definitely more emotional than I thought it was going to be, but also pretty bittersweet. I do not miss sitting in the closet at work pumping and feeling stressed out constantly about when/where/how I was going to get enough pumps in to have enough milk for her the next day. Working full-time and trying to solely breastfeed, was a huge challenge, but one that I'm glad I overcame for as long as I did. Now we just need our little stinker to like formula.
We have introduced most solids and she LOVES her baby food. We started buying organic baby food, because they offer more varieties. It's definitely more expensive than the normal Gerber foods, but think it helps widen her palette. She is eating in the mornings and then anywhere between 2-3 bottles during the day (6 oz.) and then again at night. She has fruits, veggies and oatmeal 3 times a day now too! I wish I had time to make her food. Maybe next month we'll take a stab at it!
She loves to clap and bounce up and down. She has this new smile that is the absolute cutest thing ever. She lights up when we walk in the room and is becoming more clingy. She reaches out for us, says da-da, ba-ba, and squeals a lot too. She laughs at Sandy and tries to reach out to her. The dogs have been good with her so far, but sometimes we catch Sandy pawing at her face. She doesn't seem to mind, but know it could be a recipe for disaster. For now she thinks they are funny and loves their soft fur.
Annabelle weighs 20 lbs. 12 ounces! Her arms and legs still look like they are covered in rubber bands or rolls :) We are in size 3 diapers and prefer Huggies over Pampers. I think she has less blowouts in Huggies, although her BMs are getting less all over the place now that we have introduced solids. We go down about 8:30 every night and sleep until 6:00ish. Some mornings we sleep until 6:30 or so, which I love. We get her on the weekends and bring her in bed with us. It is the BEST thing ever and she loves to sleep in there with us. She is so cuddly and the biggest love. We love to watch her start to wake up and smiles so big once she realizes she has been in bed with us. She gets so excited and bounces up and down! Once again we were blessed with another wonderful month filled with many milestones! We love our little stinker and can't wait to see what the next month brings!
And it's off...Happy Girl!!!
